The Embassy congratulates the Knights of Rizal (KOR)– The Netherlands chapter on its “Knighthood, Elevation, Exaltation and Awarding” ceremonies held on 31 May at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Chancery, facilitated by the KOR The Hague Chapter, led by its Chapter Commander Sir Anton Lutter KCR.
The occasion coincided with the 10th year anniversary of the Order of the Knights of Rizal – The Hague Chapter, chartered by the KOR Supreme Council under Republic Act No. 646 on 26 June 2015.
In attendance were KOR officials based in The Netherlands and Belgium, notably European Regional Commander Sir Albert Arevalo KGCR, Past Regional Commanders of Europe Sir Felino Paras KGCR and Sir Toni Guansing KCGR. Also present were the Netherlands Area Commander Sir Alexander Onia KGOR, and other members of the KOR.
Newly-dubbed knights included Sir Ben Ben Luteijn and Sir Noel Bacalla Driz Verbeek, while those who were elevated in ranks were Sir Eppo Horlings KR and Sir Guido Ouwerkerk KR. Meanwhile, Sir Anton Lutter KCR and Sir Mark Andrew Hernandez KR received “Distinguished Service Medal” award.
The Knights of Rizal is a “civic and patriotic organization recognized by law as an instrumentality by which the teachings of the national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal may be propagated among the Filipino people, and others who may believe in his teachings to the end that they may emulate and follow his examples.” The Order was granted a legislative charter by President Elpidio Quirino as a non-sectarian, non-partisan, civic, patriotic, and cultural organization under Republic Act 646 on June 14, 1951. Since its founding, the Order has grown to more than 25,000 members belonging to 131 active chapters in the Philippines and 61 active chapters around the world.// END
