On 3–5 October 2025, the 9th European Regional Assembly of Knights of Rizal convened in Prague, Czechia, bringing together representatives from across Europe to deliberate on the Order’s mission, coordinate upcoming initiatives, and strengthen the fraternal bonds among its chapters.

Representing the Netherlands were members from the Amsterdam Chapter and The Hague Chapter, led by Netherlands Area Commander Sir Alex Onia, KGOR.

As part of the Assembly’s ceremonial schedule, the Netherlands delegation had the honour of witnessing the induction of two new knights: Sir Ryan Aquino, KR (Amsterdam Chapter) and Sir Eduard Slootweg, KR (The Hague Chapter).

Moreover, the Assembly recognised outstanding service and dedication through awards, elevations and exaltation to various ranks and degress of the order: Sir Chris Sta Brigida-Kopp, KCR and Sir Steef Klarenbeek, KOR — from Amsterdam and The Hague respectively — were conferred the Distinguished Service Medal for their exemplary contributions to the Order and community.

In addition, Sir Mark Andrew Hernandez, KOR, was elevated to Knight Officer of Rizal (second degree) and designated Deputy Commander of the Amsterdam Chapter.

The participation and honours accorded to the Netherlands delegation reaffirm the commitment of the Dutch chapters to the ideals of the Order: promoting the legacy of Philippine national hero José Rizal through education, service, cultural unity, and social responsibility in the diaspora community.

The Netherlands delegation returns with renewed vigour and a strengthened mandate to deepen the Order’s presence and impact among the Filipino community in the Netherlands, and to foster solidarity with our European brother chapters — ever guided by the Rizalian maxim: “Non Omnis Moriar.”
